Firstly, I have enabled most of my decent stuff in my gallery to be bought as prints so
check that out please if you're interested. I've also created an account at Redbubble where you can find more printing options to some of my work that is not eligible for printing here at dA. So also
check that out.
I am also taking commissions now so throw your requests at me so you can give me moneys.
Thirdly, I entered an animation contest with some friends and were pre-selected as finalists, so that's good. Hopefully we can add a new trophy to our collection of three.
Fourthly, the Illustrators Deathmatch was awesome, got to meet Artgerm, DasGnomo, elgrimlock, Brosa, kunkka, zano, sakiroo, and Santiago Hoisel in person, all supreme artists in their fields and wonderful people and tutors; I learned a lot of stuff from their conferences which were truly invaluable. If you don't know them, you are obligated to take a look at their portfolios if you want to make it as an illustrator. Stanley "Artgerm" Lau is an incredible speaker in all art-related things and how to make a career out of your art. It was super inspiring to see all of those heroes take their time to expose their career journeys as well as make live-demonstrations of their techniques and styles. Brosa definitely took the spotlight in that portion of the conferences. I even got the chance to take a workshop with EdgarGomezArt himself, in which I made a digital piece I'll be uploading soon-ish. I did not submit my work for review by the artists since I don't think I have enough digital art content to show but I'll build it up for next year's event.
Fifthly (?), I got an illustration sold for the first time. The client: the Michigan-base band Stepdad. Truly a breakthrough for someone who has worked for free on several non-profit projects his whole life. Their album is coming out this winter so check it out to see my art featured on it. This is the illustration they bought:
So yeah, internet shameless self-promotion does work! Hurray for me! I was finally able to buy a Premium Account with that money after seven freaking years!
Sixthly(?????), I will be getting my university degree this winter. Yes, I am finally graduating from the Animation and Digital Arts career at the ITESM. What I'll get: a diploma that states I am officially "licensed" to animate and do digital art stuff. For those who don't know, in México we call degrees that do not involve engineering or architecture "licenciados." Lawyers fall into this category too, and also do all social sciences graduate students. The term implies that you are given a license to function professionally in whatever career you studied, which is weird since I've never known of any illustrator, 3D modeller, animator or cinematographer being required to present a license in order to exercise their art. It is just a piece of paper no one will care to take a look at since all that employers want to see is your portfolio which is why I hate the term in Spanish.
But whatever, my rant ends here. Now I'm looking for jobs and any source of income will be welcomed.
I need a 3DS so I can play Pokemon X. And a computer of my own would be nice, all I have is a tablet which I can only use with my gf's computer.
So buy my prints! Pretty please?
